Our hotel, as I mentioned, was about an hour away from Venice. What I didn't mention is that is was in this Adriatic beach resort town. It was much too commercialized and crowded for my taste, but the students loved it. You can see that even the beach property is valuable. I'm not sure how much it would cost to rent a chair and umbrella, but I'm sure it was more than our students could afford!
